January NEWSLETTER

Hello Starcrabbers:

Welocme to 1999. Hope this is a great year for all of you. As I start this newsletter, I am looking at 10 - 12 inches of snow coming down. Come on camping season!

Our winter meeting was held on March 6, 1999 at the Golden Corral in Glen Burnie. There were 20 membership families and 2 new International member families in attendance. One of the new families, the Baronti's joined our chapter and we would like to welcome them.

Charlie Fisher called the meeting to order at 3:15pm.The New Board of Directors were introduced:

President last year/this year-Charlie Fisher

1st Vice President this year/last year-Mary Ann Hartlove

Second Vice President Membership last year-Sande SimmonsThis year-Barbara Campbell

Recording Secretary last year-George McEwen

This year-Sande Simmons

Treasurer last year-Kathy Adams

This year-Emory Whitney

Corresponding Secretary last year-Margaret Grant

This Year-Jo Anne Fisher

Past President-Barbara Hartman

Reports from officers:

1st V.P. Mary Ann Hartlove announced the 1999 camping schedule and obtained Wagonmasters for each campout. So make your plans and let's try to have more members at each campout. The more the merrier.

Membership - Sande Simmons, reported that we did not pick up very many new members in '98, however, a lot of new trailers were purchased in '98 and all have been contacted by Sande or Barbara Campbell. Hopefully, we will get some new members from those contacts.

Recording Secretary - George McEwen, thanked everyone for all the help he had received over the past year. Sande Simmons asked that anyone who had anything they would like in the newsletter to contact her. The information can only be included if you let her know what's going on.

Treasurer - Emory Whtney, announded a lot of members in attendance have paid their dues for '99.If you still have not paid, the dues are $10.00 for the year and should be made payable to Maryland Starcraft Campers Club an sent to the attention of Emory Whitney.

Corresponding Secretary - Jo Anne Fisher, requested that any member that has information as to death, health, good news or any information of interest to the members be sent to her so that it can be submitted to the newsletter and "Chatter".

Past President - Barbara Hartman, no report.

Charlie asked a member of each family to introduce themselves and their family members present. If those Cheuvronts keep it up they will have a club of their own. Dana was there with her husband Tim Przybyszewski and new son Zachary. Chris was there with his family and new daughter Savannah. It is great to have these younger people join us, it really keeps their immediate family together as well as our camping family.

The 99 Mid-Atlantic Rally, hosted be MD this year was discussed. Anyone who has something to donate for ditty bags, please contact Jeff Barnes

Doorprizes were drawn and the lucky winners were Tom & Virginia McCurdy - Tickets to the R V show, Gene & Lois Barnes - Tickets to the R V show, Jeff & Betsy Barnes - Spare tire cover, Bob & Nancy Turner - Hostess Set. Congradulations to all the winners.

During the meeting we brought up the bad luck Greg and Beth Long have had in the last few years. Greg at the time wes in Shock Trauma after another awful accident at work. It ws suggested that Beth may need some help and our support. A collection was taken and once again our great camping family came through and $200.00 was collected to be given to Beth to help out a little in whatever they need. We also want Beth and Greg to know we are praying for the whole family and cannot wait to see them and their beautiful daughters out with us real soon. God Bless you all from your camping family.

Anyone who as an email address and would like the Club members to have them is asked to forward them to Sande Simmons(who does not have one yet). I will collect them and send them out in future newsletters as I get them.

The meeting was adjourned at 3:53PM

News Notes

Jo Anne Fisher is trying to compile a list of birthdays and anniversaries. If you would like to sent them to her please contact her. You don't have to tell the year you were born just the month and date, however, we would like to have the date, month and year of your anniversary.

New Addition: The newsletter will include Presidents Corner. Charlie hopes to add this every month.

By law revisions were discussed and Charlie asked for a Chairman to head the committee. Marie Moulden volunteered and Mike & Sande Simmons and Tom McCurdy agreed to assist.

PRESIDENT'S CORNER

Just want to say a big Thank You to everyone who contributed to Greg and Beth long at the Winter Meeting. Your donations amounted to a grand $200.00!! What a great Starcraft Family. Thanks.

I would like to ask everyone who has bills which require reimbursement by the club treasurer to fill out a disbursement Request form (available from Emory, Mary Ann, or myself) at the campout which it's for and have it approved by me before submitting it to Emory Whitney. If it is a recurring expense like copies and postage for the Newsletter try to submit it every one or two months, at the most.

I want to take this opportunity to say a BIG THANK YOU to Mary Ann and John for all the work they have been and are continuing to do on getting us a Free webpage done and up and running. Hopefully, by the time this goes to print, we will be connected to the internet!!

I also want to say Thank you to Dave Cheuvront for the excellent and speedy audit of the club's treasury account. This had not been done for 4 years and Dave did a great job of re-constructing all of those records for us.I now can go to the IRS for the necessary paperwork to get us declared a non-profit, tax-exempt social organization!!!!

I still need help with the Mid-Atlantic, Parking/registration, welcome/hospitality, Sunday brakfast cleanup, Monday continental breakfast, kids games, and Saturday night entertainment/activities. If you would like to volunteer for any of these please contact me asap - as time is running out!!It looks like we are going to get a good turnout, I've had several e-mail requests for information from Virginia, New Jersey, and the other Maryland Chapter!.

We will have for sale at the Lancaster Campout some new Maryland Starcrabbers baseball caps for $11.00 each (a small part of this fee willl supplement the club treasury) They will make a great addition to you hat collections. There is a limited supply, first come-first served, as we have to pay for them when we have them made up. Orders will be taken when we run out of this first supply. Further information and ordering is availavble from Mary Ann, see her at the campouts!

We are going to try and make this column a regular for each newsletter - not sure I'll have something for each time but we are going to try. Happy Camping! Charlie.
