SOCIETY INFORMATION

The Headquarters of the Zimbabwe Amateur Radio Society is presently located in Harare, the capital city of Zimbabwe.

The society has two branches. The Mashonaland branch based in Harare, and the Matabeleland branch based in   Zimbabwe's second city, Bulawayo both presided over by a fully constitutionalised headquarters council committee.

There are less than 150 members in total but these members are active  in many disciplines of the hobby.

There are 2 metre repeaters in both cities on 145.650 Mhz (R2) as well as  2 packet bulletin board systems. The Harare packet bbs has the callsign Z21JHE on 144.825 Mhz and the Bulawayo bbs Z21JBY also on 2 metres.

Foreign visitors may obtain temporary operating licences for both VHF and HF as long as they have the necessary operating qualifications and valid licence.
