Subject: POSSIBLE PROBELM WITH BREN/MARKSMAN SPECIAL
Hi All,
This was posted by a gentleman named "Unitas" on the Glock/ Bren
message board. Might want to take a look at your Brens if you plan on
firing them. I have not heard of this problem in the past but it doesn't hurt to
be careful. It is described as being present in the Marksman Special but
check your Bren 10s anyway. Better to be safe than have a grenade in your
hands :)

Unitas:
I just found all of this Bren Ten activity. I would like to see it in
production again. Or is that really in production for the first time?
Anyway, I had one of the Marksman Specials a couple of years ago,
S/N MSM217,and thought it was one of the neatest designs out there. I
like how it seemed to be it's own tool kit, i.e.; the recoil spring guide tip
acted as a screwdriver, and the mag was a bushing wrench. None of it
was needed probably, but interesting nonetheless. I had to trade mine off
because I was about to die resisting the urge to shoot it.
I have wanted a reproduction for a shooter since I bought that one.
FYI, if someone has one that they are thinking of shooting for the first
time, here is a tidbit of information. I responded to an ad in Gunlist about
4 years ago and bought a spare mag, and a manual. It turned out the
seller happened to be the former owner of the Marksman shop in Illinois
who had them made up. He warned me of some slide failures in the
Marksman Special. He said to check the interior of the slide for
irregularities like porous appearing, or rough areas. He basically said
those were doomed for failure. He used to have a serial number list of
bad slides, but lost/destroyed it years ago. I wish I could remember his
name, but I wrote it and his number on a piece of paper which I sent
with the gun in it's box.
