OK apparently I missed that episode of Miami Vice or my memory
is really as
bad as I think it is. So enlighten me as to sequence of events ( did
he
just shoot the helicopter or did he actually say that too. Many
apologies
if I am not worthy for not having known or remembered this.
Unfortunately
they do not show Miami Vice reruns up here.
Thanks,
Travis
Hi Travis,
FOR SHAME!!!!! This was a second season two hour
episode called "The Proidigal Son"....referring to Tubbs returning to
the place where he was before going to Miami. Crockett and Tubbs
are on the trail of some Columbian drug dealers who fled to New
York. They head to the big apple and employ Penn Gillette from
Penn and Teller magic act as a go-between to get close to the
Colubians. Eventually Penn gets zapped by the Columbians in a
shootout where Crockett uses his Detonics backup .45 in an ankle
holster....his girfriend having "liberated" his Bren because it
"excited" her. I can certainly understand her feelings ;)
Anyway...in the final scene there is a big shootout with Crockett,
Tubbs, and Pam Grier (who makes a return appearance to Miami
Vice) against the Columbians. Crockett has his trusty sawed off
shotgun and Crockett is blazing away with his Bren while they
dodge fire from the Columbians automatic weapons. The head
Columbian runs away while his partners cover him and Crockett
gives chase. The Columbian jumps into a waiting helicopter and
tries to make his escape. Crockett is in an open field and takes a
classic isosceles stance and begins to take slow accurate shows
with the Bren. The helicopter at first appears to be escaping but
then it begins to falter and with a major KABOOM, bites the dust.
Okay...now everyone is saying in their minds "how the hell can
you knock down a helicopter with a 10mm". I thought the same
thing. BUT..... Crockett served with the 1st Cav Division in Nam so
he PROBABLY knew where to send the rounds. That's why the
aimed shots instead of rapid fire. A civilain helicopter is not as well
protected as the military ones and it's not totally unbelieveable that
a few bullets in the right spot could knock one down. Anyway...if
you get to Blockbuster video you may find this episode available. If
not, it is probably going for dirt cheap in video stores. Excellent
views of the Bren in this movie as well as a rare scene of Crockett
firing the Detonics so you may want to grab it.
Also some excellent music :)

P.S. He didn't say that signoff message I use...that's the signature
from the Glock Talk website that I use :)

What about the Black unmarked ones i keep hearing about? Are
those like
"wild" choppers? Or maybe "feral choppers"??? hahaha......
Does anybody have a favorite load? and..... if we drop them in
Puget
Sound, do we still have to pick up the debris?
I hear they dont taste so good though..... kinda tough....
Ya know, i'm really beginning to miss Miami Vice again, i think i
might just
have to hit the video store... all this joking has brought back so
many
memories.
I think we should make Don Johnson a Honorary member of the
Bren Ten
Association, and send him notice that he is now a member... i bet
he would
love it!
Brooks
Hi Brooks,
You find me his e-mail address and I'd be happy to make
him a full blooded member of our group! I had proposed that the
new version of the Bren that Triton introduces have a "Miami Vice"
version since that show gave Bren so much exposure. Certainly
NOBODY would have even known what a Bren looked like without
seeing Don Johnson use it so effectively every week. Maybe in the
new Miami Vice version include an autographed picture of DJ
wearing the Bren in a Miami Classic shoulder holster? Even
better... make a deal with Galco to produce a "limited edition"
Miami Classic shoulder holster to be included as a package with
the Miami Vice version.
On the black choppers you mention...you are getting into Area
51/New World Order stuff with those babies ;)
Buy or rent "The Prodigal Son" to see DJ knock down that
chopper. Litter EVERYWHERE! :)
