The Bren Ten Newsletter Archives
Subject: (00/Jan/09)
Hi all,
Dep here. Been AGES since we have had a letter about our
favorite hand cannon. Jon got some good news though and here it
is:
From: "Mik ."
Subject: my Bren Ten is home!
hi all,
after a long wait for my Bren Ten, i finally received it and it is now
resting comfortably in my safe. a few comments on it...
the Bren Ten is considerably lighter than i thought it would be. i received
a EAA Witness 10mm in the same shipment and the weight difference is
noticeable. the grip is also thinner than the Witness, the Bren Ten is much
more comfortable in my hands. in fact, the Bren Ten Standard fits my hand
like it was made for it!
the Bren Ten came in a white cardboard box and had the original manual,
sight adjustment tool, funky gun rug (looks like a fabric flap
holster...anyone else have this?), and two magazines. the magazines r not
original...or at least i don't think they r. they don't have numbered
witness holes and the drop mag device isn't able to stop the mags from
dropping free. the gun is NIB and mint! as i said before, it will be shot
and i look forward to taking it to the range real soon.
the DA trigger is THE lightest pull i have ever tried on asemiauto DA gun!!!
it's so light that i couldn't believe it at first! the SA is only about
3.5#s at most! a fella that brought in a C&S P35 Hi Power in commented that
the Bren Ten SA trigger was so good it had to be worked on...i told him it
was stock. his mouth dropped, he couldn't believe it (i couldn't believe
how much he spent on the custom Hi Power...ack!). i didn't realize the
frame was cast, most noticeable along the serrations on the back and front
strap. anybody else notice this?
the thumb safety is a little stiff, but i'm sure it will loosen up with use.
the cross bolt safety has a small glitch...i think. to fully actuate the
safety, i have to push the firing pin in a bit and the safety will full
depress. is this common? just needs to be broke in?
one other concern. the trigger looks almost fragile...it's an unfounded
concern, but the trigger does look a little thin towards the area where the
trigger meets the "meater" part just where it enters the frame.
those r very small concerns. i LOVE this gun! it is my dream 10mm and i'm
glad i bought it...it's worth every penny! the gunstore employees were all
drooling over this gun too! anyone who appreciates quality firearms will
appreciate this gun...at least everyone that has seen and held it gets a
gleam in their eye and a smile.
i'll let u all know how it shoots!
Jon
