GUNUNG TIGA NEGERI
GUNUNG CHARLIE PONDOK

Why do I describe both of these mountains together? Both mountains are situated close to one another. And if you are fast enough you can get from Gunung Charlie Pondok to Gunung Tiga Negeri within twenty minutes.

What's so special about these two mountains? Gunung Tiga Negeri is the boundaries for three states, Pahang, Kelantan and Perak, and there's a triangular marker placed to signifies the boundaries. One can have one leg over at Perak, another at Kelantan and his head at Pahang. Aamzing isn't it. Some people claim the mountain to be the coldest in Peninsular Malaysia, with the fact that winds are blowing from all the directions. Well, personally I haven't been to that place after it's dark, and on my second trip, it was hot, hotter than most places, maybe because of the El-Nino effect during that time. The trees at the summit have been burned or are burnt. It is speculated that some rescue operation has been made there and they have to burn the trees for helicopter to land. Well, this is a conflict between to save someone's life and to protect the environment.

"Charlie Pondok" means "charlie's hut". For those who haven't been to that mountain before, it wll be a temptation to have a look at the hut. To tell you the truth, there's no hut built up there.

You'll pass through these two mountains if you attempt Gunung Yong Belar. Both these mountains are part of Cameron Highland and don't forget to get free oranges on your way back.
