Thesis : Not required
Language of teaching : English
Time-scheduleá:áThe University year starts at the beginning of October. Courses of lectures run from October to May inclusive during 3 terms.
Creditásystemá:áIndividual examinations in each subject in each year are taken in June, with repeat examinations in September for those students who do not reach an adequate standard.

* Postgraduate Education

First Year, leading to a Diploma in Environmental Engineering. Based on attendance and examination on a number of lecture courses, with a minor thesis.
Second Year, leading either to an M.Eng.Sc. degree in relevant research areas, for example hydro-informatics, water resources, system analysis, environmental modelling, environmental engineering, hydrology.
Candidates with academic qualifications equivalent to a Bachelor of Engineering Degree of the National University of Ireland may be accepted for the Degree of Master of Engineering Science subject to such examination or other requirement approved by the Faculty. The duration of research must be at least three terms after obtaining the primary degree. Examination is by dissertation and written or oral examinations. In exceptional cases a candidate may be permitted to undertake the research for this Degree in an external institution.
Admission : At least four years of University studies (B.Sc., B.E., etc.) in science or engineering.

* Doctorate

Doctor of Philosophy in all faculties. Topics in the above specialisations.

* Accommodation

Newly constructed residential accomodation on campus : Castlewhite Apartments, @ IR£ 25 - 35 per week per person. Private development off campus : Brookfield Park. Meals at University restaurant @ IR£ 2.50 - 3.00 approx. four-courses. For meals outside or private rooms outside :Contact : Mr. Denis McDONALD, Residence & Student Activities, U.C.C. (for self catering). Ms. S. QUINLAN, Residence & Student Activities, U.C.C. (for digs ect.).

* Language Teaching

English for foreigners : 2 sessions per week of 1.5 hours duration for academic year. Other courses available : Orientation Day for all overseas students on 30 September 1991

Sc.) by research involving a minimum of one year but usually two years' study; some graduate course-work also available to support Resaerch work; topics in all areas of Civil Engineering including Environmental Engineering; Geotechnical Engineering; Structural Engineering; Highway Engineering; Coastal Engineering.

Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy); Minimum three years' study.
