4 study years (1 year propaedeuse (1520 study hours) + 3 years doctoral phase (5040 study hours)).
Language of teaching : Dutch (several courses in the ‘doctoral’ phase are taught in English). At least one thesis (520-1080 study hours) is required. Compulsory practical training period (480-1080 study hours).
Department is substantially involved in the following study programmes : Water-Bodem-Atmosfeer (Water-Soil-Atmosphere). Tropisch Landgebruik (Tropical Land Use). Landinrichtings-wetenschappen (Land use and land management). Milieuhygiéne (Environmental Protection) Within these programmes there are several orientations available.

MSc course Soil and Water (since 1971)
Admission : first degree BSc or equivalent in agronomy or any relevant technical or scientific discipline. Competitive entrance examination. 1 1/2 years programme, 3 terms lectures in English : Water orientation thesis 27 credits; methodology 13 credits; subjectmatter 16 credits; optionals 5 credits. Specialization in : irrigation; drainage; soil physics and agrohydrology; water resources development and hydrology; soil and water conservation.

Doctor in de landbouw- en milieu-wetenschappen (PhD in agricultural and environmental sciences). research degree
4 years assistent in opleiding (AIO) (assistent-in-training) programme : 75% research, 10% teaching duty, 15% individual course/training programme.
‘Sandwich’ PhD programme 2 x 6 months in Wageningen, research in home institution.
Research project supported PhD candidates, external candidates.
Dissertations can be submitted in Dutch, English, French, German.

Dormitory accomodation for ERASMUS students (limited number of rooms, 3 month notice !) price : 280,-Dfl. (120 ecu), meals at university cantines : 5,-Dfl. (2 ecu), student associations : 15,-Dfl. (6 ecu).
