• to provide a global forum and to build an existing partnership between academia and non-academia interested in education and training
• to organise a standing conference where topics of mutual interest can be freely and easily proposed and discussed in an efficient way
• to foster the development of joint programmes and projects
• to explore a suitable form of ECTS to cover those transnational postgraduate and training activities to promote intensive interdisciplinary cooperation between water related departments of universities
• to improve understanding and to broaden the knowledge of the water problems in Europe These overall objectives can best be achieved through five Specific Projects, each addressing a range of topics selected to meet their main objectives:

* Project Management

CORE-PARTNERS include the Coordinator and the Team-Leaders of the Specific Projects: they are responsible for the structuring of the network, budget allocation, control of envisioned goals and the planned time table. Their work is supervised by a SCIENTIFIC COMMITTEE consisting of representatives of EU- and EEA-Member States. The present project contract runs from 1 September 1996 to 31 August 1997 and is renewable for two years.
