* Background

The water indusry sector in Europe shows different development levels in terms of applied technologies and management approaches (i.e. fragmented undertakings and work methodologies, continuing and initial vocational training level, skills recognition).

With reference to the aforementioned subjects, nowadays some countries are characterized by the strong potential change in this field; at the same time, other countries have already reached a good development level allowing them to propose themselves as leaders in Europe.

Today the water industry sector is aware of the common need of improving the quality of service following customer requests. One of the main factors affecting the quality of service improvement is represented by a proper employee training (either initial or vocational).

In order to contribute effectively to reach this important target, the project is aimed at promoting the efficiency and quality of vocational training in the water industry carrying out a recognition of training needs in the water industry sector through Member States.

The contents of the latter will be part of the interim report delivered to the Leonardo Programme during the data analysis phase.

A final report will be prepared by the involved partners including the follow-up results and a programme for their dissemination.

* Results Dissemination

The project follow-up will lead firstly to the general assessment of vocational training needs in five European countries.

These results could be used as the first step for establishing the vocational training giudelines in the water industry helping European Union programmes in designing training policies on a medium/long term basis tailored on national needs.

As said before, during the last project phase a results dissemination step will be carried out. The partnership will cooperate in this activity through the organization of seminars and workshops in different European Union locations either in Member States involved or in other examined States. Seminars and workshop target audiences will include people from European Community Training Institutions.
