Wars of the Roses (1455 - 1485)

Men of Warwick

Welcome to the 15th Century

A time of color, armor, tournaments, war, and intrigue

This is the home page for the Men (& women) of Warwick, a reenactment group for the Wars of the Roses (1455-1485). The Men of Warwick is a re-enactment group based in Maryland, USA with events and members throughout the northeastern United States.

As an award winning camp, we strive to maintain a high standard of authenticity, without sacrificing having fun.  We hope to show the public, through battle reenactments, living histories, special events, and educational demonstrations, a picture of what life was like between the end of the medieval period and the beginning of the renaissance.

Our camp portrays the Army of the Earl of Warwick, a supporter of the House of York, during the Wars of the Roses in 1461.  This English conflict began to brew generations earlier and came to a head with the imprisonment of King Henry VI, a member of the House of Lancaster, by Richard, Duke of York.  Both families having a claim to the throne, were locked in a civil war that would last for almost thirty more years.

We also portray Swiss soldiers from the canton of Bern during the Swiss and Burgundian Wars.  In 1476, Charles the Bold, of Burgundy, attacked the town of Grandson and began moving towards the city of Morat as part of his plan for expansion into the Swiss Confederation.

No one conquers who does not fight

Our camp is open to anyone interested in learning about, and recreating, this period in history.  Individuals, and families, can participate by creating a 15th century persona tailored to your interests, talents, and abilities.

Men are not limited to being soldiers and women are not limited to cooking.  Our authentic recreation of army life includes the merchants and tradesmen that traveled with the army, creating many opportunities for men and women to join in the fun.  Officers are selected from the ranks and in this game, the one with the most toys wins.
