15th Century
Wars of the Roses (1455 - 1485)
Men of Warwick
Captain Eric Littlewood (Eric Littlewood)
Eric's father had been a soldier in the army of King Henry V.
Following in his father's foot steps, Eric joined the war against France
in what is now called the 100 years war. Eric was posted in Calais
at the war's end when Richard Neville, the Earl of Warwick, was in command.
They quickly became friends and Warwick made Eric a captain in the main
garrison. On a trip back to England, Eric visited his hometown of
Ludlow, and there he met Emma, a wealthy wool merchant's daughter.
After receiving a large dowry, Eric married Emma and they returned to Calais.
In 1460, Warwick transferred Eric and some of the garrison to Warwick Castle
to serve as his personal guard because he knew trouble was on the horizon
with King Henry VI. Eric's unit was one of the few that stood its
ground at St. Albans and was later in the battle of Towton where they took
heavy looses, but came out victorious. Unfortunately, Eric received
a severe blow to the head and has since had momentary delusions that he
is the Earl of Warwick.
