Men of Warwick
Randy Brews, Captain's Squire (Susan Paris)
Randy is the youngest of five brothers and twin to the family's only
girl, Emma. Randy has always been a disappointment to his father,
a wealthy wool merchant in the town of Ludlow, because of his wild nature
and love of wenching and gambling.
Though Randy would never admit it, he missed his sister when she left
with her husband for Calais, because Emma had always been there to get
him out of trouble with their father. He was about to get another
lecture (because of the mayor's claim that Randy had seduced his daughter),
when Emma's letter came urging him to come serve as her husband's squire.
Guilty of the mayor's claim and wanting to avoid his father's wrath, Randy
immediately left for Warwick Castle on his father's best saddle horse,
in 1460.
After some harsh lessons and threats to send him home, by his brother-in-law,
Randy has learned to temper his appetites and has settled into military
life, since joining Warwick's men, though he is popular with the washer
women in camp.
