The kidney shaped pouch was the most common means of carrying small items around on the body. It was worn hanging off a belt and served the general purpose that a wallet or purse does in modern times. (more text about purpose of kidney pouch)


Red pouch with brass fittings

This pouch is unusual because of its strap. It fastens from underneath up into the buckle, with the loose strap pointing up and then drooping down.

Brown pouch

This pouch contains machine sewing for the seams. If the pouch is not viewed from the back, the machine sewing is not obvious.
