week. The skate departs at 6:30 p.m. Please try to be ready at this
time. Come celebrate summer with us!
FISC Monday Skate Continues
The FISC Monday evening skate is an intermediate to advanced skate that
moves at faster pace than the Wednesday skate. The skate starts at 6:30
p.m. and departs from the Our Lady of Sorrows parking lot, located on
the West side of Power road between Shiawassee and 10 Mile Road.
Kensington Metro Park Skate
Enjoy your Sunday mornings with friends at Kensington Park at 11 a.m. Meet at the East boat launch second
parking lot. To get there take I-96 West and follow the signs to
Kensington Metro Park (Kent Lake Road, Exit 153). Take a right off of
the exit, then take the first left after the entrance gate.
Athens to Atlanta Training
Starting Sunday June 6th, 1999, FISC will be hosting long-distance
training to get ready for this year?s Athens to Atlanta. Your coaches
Brett Foland and Vivian Walls will help you get ready for skating
endurance and maintaining proper technique.
In this month's FISC newsletter we announced the start of long-distance
training. While we are still going to do this, there has been a change in
the schedule.
About 10 people said they were interested but could only make it to
Kensington on Sundays. In this respect, we will eliminate the Thursday
meeting until a little later in the summer. The Sunday training will still
go on.
We will meet at Kensington Park on Thursdays and Sundays at the East
Boat Launch. On Sundays, we will meet at 9:30 a.m. for informal classes
and goal setting. On Thursdays, we will meet at 6:30 p.m. and
concentrate on form and technique.
For more information about Athens to Atlanta, see their web site at:
http://www.a2a.net. Come and join in! For more information, contact Brett
Foland or Vivian Walls at the FISC hotline: 248-426-9144.

FISC Mission Statement
Farmington Inline Skate Club (FISC) was formed in July 1994, from a
collection of professionals who were instructing and participating in
the inline skating classes at Oakland Community College. Together we
have been meeting Wednesdays to skate in the Farmington area. As many
as 50 people have participated in our skates, with the anticipation of
growing to over 100 inline skaters.
FISC is run by local residents of our community on a voluntary basis. Most of us are professional people who have taken up in-line skating as a healthy, safe means of exercise. With our certified instructors and patrollers, and with the cooperation of the International In-Line Skating Association (IISA), we have scheduled beginner and intermediate fun skates on a weekly basis. Though most of the fun skates take place in and around Farmington residential areas, we stop at local business establishments for breaks and rest stops.
FISC promotes: All local ordinances The use of all protective gear and safety equipment The downtown Farmington area businesses. Local activities for members to enjoy Lessons for beginner and intermediate skaters
