Mary Pat Shelby - Dana and Issac are ecstatic, as they have clinched
an exclusive interview with a convicted yet still popular football player
Christain Patrick. Dana shares the news with the others, and gives Natalie
the assignment of doing a pre-interview with the jock. Natalie asks if
Jeremy would be the better choice for the job, but Dana insists she does
it. Dana begins to think that her sense of humour is not appreciate
by her co-workers when Natalie lets slip that she usually doesn't joke
about anything. Dan decides he wants to grow a grotee, which the others
informs him is a very bad idea. The day of the interview, Dana informs
Casey and Dan of the guidelines of the interview, which include the subject
of Mary Pat Shelby, the woman Patrick assaulted is off limits. Casey disgusted
by the notion, tells Dana she has been played for a fool, and she admits
she got beat. Casey thinks they're doing a big thing badly, and Dana tells
him she'll do anything to get the show bigger ratings. After the argument,
Casey asks Dan why he was being so quiet, and Dan tells him is taking a
day off from moral responsibility. Natalie returns from the assignment
and bumps into Jeremy. He notices that she has a bruise on her wrist, and
she tells him she jammed it against the van door. At the staff rundown,
Dana is about to tell a joke and Casey stops her saying it will go badly
for her. Dan still wants to grow a grotee but is told that it's a lighting
problem in the studio, and once again his co-workers are against the idea.
Issac interrupts the meeting telling them he just got a phone call saying
that someone witnessed Patrick in an empty lockeroom, exposing himself
to a woman. The woman is unknown, and he might have done more than exposed
himself. Issac informs them there was a struggle and that the football
player grabbed the woman's arm, and Jeremy asks if it was wrist.
Issac says yes, and Jeremy rushes from the room. Casey realises that the
woman was Natalie and they all rush from the room. Dana, Jeremy, Issac,
Dan, and Casey are in the soundroom with Natalie who says she's okay, and
Dana asks if Patrick hurt her anywhere else. Natalie says no. Issac says
that Patrick will be arriving soon, and that they`ll have a car take her
home. Natalie asks if she's being fired, when told no, she wants to stay
in the studio as she has a job to do. Issac agrees. When Patrick arrives
both Issac and Dana organize a route so he and Natalie don't see one another
and get in contact with the sudios lawyers. Dana is now convinced that
it's a whole new ball game. And when Casey makes a comment she flares up
telling him that they are now sitting on a new story, and that they should
broadcast it, and she reminds him that she is the closest person to Natalie,
and she is not being insensitive. She thinks that Natalie deserves to have
her story told. Dan tells her not to use that. He was convinced and agreed
with her until she said that. He doesn't believe that Natalie did want
her story to be told, and Dana realises he's right. Meeting Patrick's people
Dana cuts a deal that Natalie will forget about the incident if they are
allowed to question Patrick about Mary Pat Shelby in the interview. Natalie
is feeling isolated, and when Jeremy encourages her to tell Dana that she
doesn't want to strike the deal, Natalie is hostile, telling him that if
she did continue with it her career would be over. Jeremy warns Patrick
that if he ever touches Natalie again he'll pay to have him killed. Dana
admits to Casey that she sent Natalie on the interview on purpose, as she
knew she'd get a better reaction from him if interview by a woman. Casey
tells her that Natalie knows this, and like him, she also knows that Dana
will always end up doing the right thing. Natalie recieves some comforting
advice from Dan, as she now is not sure whether to press charges or not.
Dan tells her that no matter wht she decides her friends will stand by
her. Dana races to the set, and tells Issac that they have done a big thing
bad, and asks if she can put things right. Issac says yes, and she cancels
the interview, much to Patrick's dismay. Natalie meets Patrick in the corridor
where she tells him that she is going to press charges against him for
the assualt. As they show broadcasts, Dana apologizes to Natalie, and the
two women hug. Dana asks what can she do, and Natalie replies warmly, tell
her a joke.
