INTEGRITY
Theodore Roosevelt wrote in "Excerpts from the Strenuous Life" (published in 1900):
We can afford to differ on the currency, the tariff, and foreign policy; but we cannot afford to differ on the question of honesty if we expect our republic permanently to endure. Honesty, is... an absolute prerequisite to efficient service to the public. Unless a man is honest we have no right to keep him in public life, it matters not how brilliant his capacity. Without honesty the brave and able man is merely a civic wild beast who should be hunted down by every lover or righteousness. No man who is corrupt, no man who condones corruption in others can possibly do his duty by the community. If a man lies under oath of procures the lie of another under oath, if he perjures himself of suborns perjury, he is guilty under the statue law. Under the higher law, under the great law of morality and righteousness, he is precisely as guilty if, instead of lying in a court, he lies in a newspaper or on the stump; and in all probability the evil effects of his conduct are infinitely more wide spread and more perniciuous. We need absolute honesty in public life; and we shall not get it until we remember that truth-telling must go hand in hand, and that it is quite as important about a decent man as it is to tell the truth about one who is not decent."
Is It Really About The Economy?
Now the country is in hard times. There is Travel Gate, File Gate, Trooper Gate, Whitehouse Coffees, Asian campaign contributions, selling missile technology to China, the selling of Lincoln's Bedroom. Your taxes are up by 43% and you're being told to pay more. Questions about the Presidents sex life, outside his marriage. The list is long.
You are told you don't need "X" type of weapons, but the Bill of Rights states, "rights" not "needs." You also have the right to send your children to the school of your choice, not the need to send them to a government run school.
In 1992, Clinton stated he'd have the most ethical administration in history. Why then, are so many of that administration being indicted? Where is the honesty?
Now, to top all else, they plan to have a convicted felon run in Indiana's 6th congressional district for Congress.
I've left a lot of things out, but you folks should get the idea. Please, get out and vote, but vote for the person, not the Party. If you don't wake up and speak out now, your children and grandchildren will be fighting for the rights and freedoms you are giving away today!!
Oh yes, it's not just about the economy, stupid.
