| The Alameda County Central Railroad
Society layouts are located at the Alameda County Fair Grounds in Pleasanton,
California. A 30 foot by 100 foot room is shared by an O'scale layout
and HO scale layout, each using roughly half of the space split along the
length of the room. The layout is a permanent attraction of the annual
county fair and is open all year long to the general public every Friday
evening from 6 PM to 10 PM. The layouts operate continuously during
the annual county fair and during special events such as the Great American
Train Show. Membership is available: annual dues are $24 (prorated
monthly) plus an initiation fee of $15; Junior membership is available
for those between the ages of 12 and 18 (with adult sponsor), Junior membership
is free. |

Directions
for reaching the fairgrounds:
From I-580
East & West - Take I-680 South to Bernal Avenue exit. Bear Right
at the bottom of the off ramp and travel east to Pleasanton Avenue, turn
left onto Pleasanton Avenue and continue one block to fairground's east
gate. Tell the guard you are visiting the model train layout.
Follow road from gate past race track stands then bear left around lawn
area and look for the model railroad layout sign.
For events
such as the GATS show; after exiting a Bernal Avenue, bear right and head
east on Bernal one block to Valley Avenue. Turn left at Valley and
proceed one block to Gate #8 entrance for entry to fairground parking. |
